The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea in patients with type 2 diabetes: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract Background Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is one of the diseases related to diabetes. Considering varying prevalence OSA in patients with type 2 diabetes different parts world, order aggregate results and come a general review about topic mentioned, current study performed systematic meta-analysis Methods In this study, international databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web science, Cochran library) were searched without time limit using keywords diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, or epidemiology. Homogeneity was investigated among studies Q test I index. Given heterogeneity studies, random effect model used estimate OSA. Meta-regression investigate quantitative variables on Comprehensive Meta-analysis (CMA) software for data analysis. Results Twenty included meta-analysis. these 19 total number 10,754, mean age 58.6 ± 4.1 years. Final estimation calculated be 56.0%. The meta-regression showed increased rise age, percentage male sex, body mass index, sample size. Conclusion high weight control can partly mitigate their problems possibly reduce prevalence.
